Depawali

Just a quick update from Depawali, which is a hugely important festival in India and other southeast Asian countries, marking the Hindu new year. All the girls got sarees and the guys got traditional Indian wear, and we went to Suresh's house for lunch. His cousin is a professional chef, so he served us a great meal on banana leaves. Then we lounged around, and returned to MCC for another great banana leaf meal with a smaller group  of students from Davidson College. When we weren't eating that day, we were either sleeping or shooting fireworks. We spent several consecutive hours playing with Indian explosives, which could really benefit from some quality control in the fuse department. Through some stroke of luck, no one was injured.
